A former student dressed in black walked onto the stage of a lecture hall at Northern Illinois University and opened fire on a packed science class Thursday, killing tramadol five students, wounding 16 and setting off a panicked stampede before committing suicide.

Police say they have no motive for the rapid-fire assault, carried out by the gunman who fired indiscriminately into the crowd with a shotgun and two handguns as students dove to the floor and ran toward the exits. At least two of the wounded take tramadol were hospitalized in critical condition.

I just read in the news about the shooting incident at Northern Illinois University. I think it’s so tragic. I mean, what is happening to kids these days? Why are they doing these things tramadol versus codeine to make themselves heard? Is there something in the school system that makes kids consider shooting innocent people and themselves? Really, I cannot comprehend why and how it has come to this and why this happens almost every year.

As a homeschooling mom, I cannot even express my relief about the safety of my boys. I am not trying to sound mean or unfeeling but I am glad that I homeschool my boys if only to keep them safe from events like this. The world now is no longer a safe place and as much as I would want to make my kids street-smart and prepared for anything life throws at them, I would want to prolong that until I am sure that they are confident and really sure of themselves. I would not want to send them out without instilling the proper values and lessons that would make them successful in life and to handle the highs and lows that come with it. For now, I am glad that despite this tragic event, my boys are safe with me. And now, I will pray for all those victims and people who were affected by the shooting. I hope that this will be the last school shooting I will ever hear about.
